If you've ever wondered if your damaged stonework can be repaired, then we have the answer.
We use only the latest natural, breathable, lime based materials, such as Lithomex and Facade 400, for our stone repairs. We specifically colour-match them to the clients stone in several shades, so as to blend in with the existing surface. We shape and sculpt it as it cures, to give an extremely authentic restoration. We always create our repairs to blend in with the old weathered stonework, and not as the stone would have looked like new. We pride ourselves on the fact that our repairs go unnoticed . |

Lime based mortars have been used successfully for a thousand years. They have stood the test of time due to the fact that they are flexible, breathable and softer than the stone itself. The mortar should be there to act as a barrier to support the individual stones, not a glue to stick them together. When Portland cement was introduced it was seen as a cheap alternative to lime and its use became widespread.
But the damage caused by using cement is extensive, and cement pointing can often be seen standing proud of the soft stone. There are many technical reasons and benefits for using lime when pointing stonework, and that's all before you consider its beauty. |

If you have an ugly concrete block or brick infill spoiling the look of your lovely stone wall, then we have the solution .
You've probably thought that the only option would be to have it removed and replaced with freshly cut stone. The problem with this, other than the cost, is that it is unnecessarily invasive, and the new stone will never match the original in either colour or tooling. Mountain Stoneworks can cover the ugly area in Lithomex (a colour matched, lime-based mortar), and then sculpt it to match the existing stonework in colour, shape and tooling. We can replicate any form of stone or brick, be it ashlar, rubble, sandstone or granite, and any style of finish, be it new, or weathered. |
