Carnoustie
The owners of this 120 year old sandstone house asked us to complete an extensive lime mortar repointing and Lithomex stone repair work to the exterior.

Perth
Over the years this property had been coated in hundreds of unsightly cement repairs, especially the thick pink render on the window surrounds.We removed all of the cement on the house and recoated in a colour matched Lithomex, shaping and tooling it to look as if it had always been there.

Montrose
We were asked to incorporate the squirrel logo of this Guest House into the Lithomex resurfacing of their two gate pillars, and reform the left hand base to match the other.

Dundee
Here, the client had removed the cement render from both the front and side elevations only to discover brick infills where the windows and door apertures had been altered in the past, and also on the side elevation where the roof had been raised.We coated over the brickwork with Lithomex, and then shaped carved and tooled it to replicate individual stones that matched the existing stonework. We then carefully cleaned the old render residue from the rest of the stone and repointed it all with lime. A small cream lime based render was also applied to cover the brickwork on the side elevation.

Carnoustie
This decorative arched stone lintel had deriorated so much that it was in two pieces and in danger of falling. After careful realignment and reinforcement with resined, stainless steel rods it was coated with colour matched Lithomex. The moulding and carving were then reinstated.

St. Cyrus
This old farmhouse was in desperate need of renovation. Another contractor had begun work on the repointing, but the client was unhappy with both the quality of their work and the pink colour the contractor had inexplicably chosen for the pointing mix. The client then contacted us. We removed both the new 'pink' pointing and the old cement pointing. We also removed the cement render that had been applied around the two windows, which had been put there to cover up the brick infills that had been added when the two windows had been enlarged.We then repointed the whole house in a natural NHL 3.5 lime and sharp sand mix, and reformed the surrounds of the two windows in Lithomex, along with numerous other quoins and rybats

Montrose
On this complex restoration job, the stone canopy and the supporting two classical style corbels had been repaired badly many times in the past. We carefully removed the old cement and loose damaged stone. A lot of the top moulding, the door lintel and both sides of each corbel were lost, leaving just the front face of the corbels remaining. Even the protruding base of the corbels had broken off and been cement repaired. After stabilizing and strengthening the corbels with resin, we built up the sides in stages with Lithomex. First we formed the scrolls on each side, then added the circular floral decorations and finally the ornate leaf adornment. The top moulding was reformed, the lintel recoated and finally the feet of the corbels were sculpted. for a more detailed slideshow on this job please visit our stone creation page.

Forfar
Extremely hard cement pointing was damaging the stonework of this sandstone farmhouse. We carefully removed the cement and repointed in Lime and sharp sand, covered in hessian and cured for two weeks. We also repaired two damaged lintels with colour matched Lithomex

Falkirk
There were many dark cement repair patches on this house. We removed them and repaired them using a palette of four different Lithomex colours to blend in with the original stonework. The corbels and most of the quoins were completely reformed.

Lerwick
We were invited to Lerwick, Shetland to repair the badly eroded tympanum along with window surrounds and mullions.We were given a drawing of the proposed corbel design from the architect, from which we then made templates and with some pinning formed the corbels with Lithomex. The arch, keystone and lintel were also repaired and the date reinstated.

Kirriemuir
This work was a project partly funded by the Kirriemuir Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme ( CARS ).
The job entailed removal of extensive, old cement pointing, which was damaging the red sandstone of this 18th century property. Forfar
These two chimneys were in a very poor state. We repaired them using a combination of Thermocromex and Lithomex before resetting the pots with Hourdex. All materials used were lime based.

Ardler, stage 4
This was the fourth stage of restoration for an old manse in Ardler. Both Lithomex and lime repointing were carried out.

Dundee
We were asked by the owner of this circa 1850 house, to restore the front elevation to how it would have originally looked. This involved a combination of paint removal, sympathetic stone repair and fine ashlar repointing. The idea with the stone repair to the portico was to reinstate some of the lines of the mouldings without making it look too new and sharp.
